A crisis can be anything that causes panic and creates confusion and havoc in day to day activities. The crisis could be economical, financial, or natural. The best example of a crisis is Covid-19 pandemic! This has instilled anxiety and created chaos in everybody’s lives. Keeping your sales team motivated during times of crisis is extremely important.
It adds to the productivity of the company and saves the company from going bankrupt. However, motivating your team and staying motivated during such inevitable times is considered a hard task.
Here is our two cents worth which is being shared with you!
1) Prioritize the sales team- Always make sure to keep the interest of the team as the number one priority. Any decision that is taken should be in the best interests of the team. Prioritizing the employees gives them a feeling of belongingness. This motivates them to work harder.
2) Employee engagement- Make sure you are available for your employees. Employee engagement means creating the right work setting for the employees where they feel comfortable and safe. Having a positive attitude towards the employees helps them engage better with their work.
3) Optimistic- Being positive helps your team also stay calm and positive. Do not forget that the crisis is a temporary phase. Being optimistic lifts, the mood of the co-workers helping them perform 10X better.
4) Checking in on your employees- Make sure you check in on your employees. Attend to them and answer their questions. Make them feel important. Have therapists and wellness workshops that help the workers de-stress. This helps them have a clear mind while working.
5) Acknowledge the work- Working in times of a crisis is extremely hard and requires a lot of hard work. Being kind to them and appreciating their hard work keeps their spirits high and motivates them to perform better. Providing certain incentives also works to your benefit. Do not disregard their efforts.
6) Be transparent- Be honest and transparent with all your decisions and dealings with your team. This helps them stay connected and establishes a sense of job security among them during times of crisis. Do not involve in shady business.
Now, as an effective SALESPERSON! We can do three things from here.
1) Ignoring the opportunity and blaming the situation for revenue loss.
2) Taking important notes and going back to revisit your sales strategy with the growth mindset.
