The DriveSales™ | Proven and highly recommended Copywriting strategies for salespeople!

Copywriting means writing text with the motive of advertising or marketing. This written content is known as copy or sales copy. It aims at growing awareness for the brand and motivating people to take a particular action. Some examples of Copywriting are writing for billboards, catalogs, newspaper advertisements, and categorically emails for salespeople etc.

Grabbing your prospect’s attention is not an easy task; therefore, it is essential to give make the most out of every opportunity. Are you a beginner in Copywriting and wondering how to start? Do you think your existing Copywriting strategies are failing? Worry not! You are just one step away from solving all these problems.

Follow the tips listed below to give your Copywriting skills a new direction and simultaneously shoot up your sales figures.

1) Say ‘NO’ to jargon — If you want to show off your mumbo jumbo, go ahead and do it. But, let me tell you your prospects don’t care. It will make them feel alienated if they are not familiar with the words you use. If you want your prospects to understand your texts and persuade them, then use simple everyday English and avoid using jargon.

2) Prioritize benefits over traits — Before you start writing, you need to understand that people are more interested in benefits than the features of the product. If you want to grab their attention, highlight the benefits provided by your product. The technicalities of the features may confuse your prospect and you may lose your chance.

3) Use an attractive headline — Headlines are quite important because it decides whether your prospect is going to read any further. They are just going to overlook your writing if they do not find the headline interesting and attractive. Spend some time on creating an eye-catchy headline for your sales copy.

4) Avoid narcissism — Do not write too much about yourself and try to boast about your product. Be as customer-centric as possible and the best way to do this is by using more ‘you’ than ‘we’ in your copy.

5) Short and clear text — Do not write lengthy paragraphs and overload your customers with the information they do not need. Write short sentences in point form so that it is easy to read and understand. Write clearly about what you want to portray.

6) Add authority — Adding logos of your existing customers can help you gain the trust of your prospects. Moreover, it will make your existing customers feel that they are a part of your family.

7) Give reasons — If you want to convince your prospects to buy from you, write reasons why they should do so. It is a natural human behaviour to find valid reasons for whatever they do. You can increase your chances of conversion when your prospects find valid reasons to make a purchase.

8) Educate your prospects — If you want something from people, offer them something in return. Educate them through your writings and ask them to buy your product or service. In this way, you can provide them with knowledge and increase your sales at the same time.

9) Readout your copy loudly — Read your copy loudly after you finish writing. This will help you detect grammatical errors and give you an idea about how you sound. A last-minute check always proves to be useful.

10) Focus on both — Remember to focus on both — Emotions & Logic. People are influenced a lot by their emotions when they are making any decision. Providing logic is good but it would be better if you do not miss out on their emotions. Your copy should be appealing in both the ways, emotionally and logically.

Now, as an effective SALESPERSON! We can do three things from here.

1) Ignoring the opportunity and blaming the situation for revenue loss.

2) Taking important notes and going back to revisit your sales strategy with the growth mindset.

3) Reach out to The DriveSales™ if you need any specialized help for sales.

To conclude, what you choose to think also provides some idea of your growth mindset. It is something like Sandeep Jauhar’s quote, “The only mistake you can make is not asking for help.”
