When we started our B2B venture in the advertising space, we did not have much idea about sales and were not aware of how to leverage social platforms for getting the real qualified leads. But as we all know that necessity is the mother of all inventions, we initiated social warming with LinkedIn, I read a lot of blogs, watched videos on how to personalize your LinkedIn profile and stand out followed by generating the qualified for your business.

Well, I did whatever I could under the circumstances, however, I realized as long as you have populated the information under each LinkedIn section neatly and legible, the profile will work in your favor, no rocket science, I never got a response like “Ankit, sorry I can’t accept your add request because your photo is unprofessional or you have bad grammar” All the requests were accepted on time.

But does getting a high number of followers to guarantee to leads? NO! Your post will not even reach to all your followers. Over and above, the everyday LinkedIn algorithm was pushing me to try and purchase a premium subscription, LOL!

But the question here, why we need a Premium account? To get visibility. Find leads? No premium account can guarantee you leads, ultimately, as a salesperson, it zeroes down to your engagement with the prospect as soon as you identify them. You do not have to purchase premium membership of LinkedIn or other platforms to get real leads, not at all needed. All you have to do is follow the below steps.

1) Let’s, assume, for example, you run a company who sells stationery products, now if your prospect is “Procurement Manager”, just go to google, write Amazon procurement manager India LinkedIn, and enter, you will have N number of profiles, just review and add them to your network with personalized text.

2) The moment they accept your request, send them welcoming text, once you have a response, send them soft pitch, not more than 50–70 words.

3) I am certain that most of the time, you will have a response, make sure you get their email address, and once you have it, don’t wait, jump to your inbox and shoot them a brief email with case studies, sample work, whatever is relevant to your offerings.

4) In the same way, if you make a habit of searching at least 15 prospects every day, for most of them, you will get their email as well by navigating deep into their accounts, use that information and make 15 pitch a day, all free.

5) Please note, you just need to fill your basic LinkedIn details so that your prospect understands what you are offering and can reach you out as and when needed.

6) Mostly, it is our hesitation which holds us to call prospects, make sure you send them pitch email followed by a phone call them as soon as you get their contact, DON’T WAIT!

7) Lastly, no premium account or having N number of followers will guarantee you lead, it’s your persistence which sometimes sounds idealistic but reaching out 15 prospects daily will take you to the right place.

Now, as a real SALESPERSON! We can do three things from here.

1) Ignoring the opportunity and blaming the situation for revenue loss.

2) Taking important notes and going back to revisit your sales strategy with the growth mindset.

3) Reaching out to us if you need any specialized help for sales.

To conclude, what you choose to think also provides some idea of your development as a consultative salesperson. It is something like a Vince Lombardi quote, “The difference between a successful salesperson and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.”
